How it Works
Premium Service authors will be assigned their very own Author Manager who will work with them one-on-one to ensure complete satisfaction. Our Author Managers are experienced publishing professionals who are available to our Premium Service authors via email and phone. Base Service authors will be guided through our process via email by our general support staff.

1. Submit Your Content
After you sign up, you will receive an email with a instructions to create your account and send us your file(s). If you opted to have us design your cover, we will ask you for any cover ideas you may have at this time.
2. We Design Your Paperback and Make it Available for Sale Worldwide
We lay out and design a professional book interior and assign your book its own unique ISBN and scannable barcode (for free!). We make sure your book includes all necessary front and back-matter pages (e.g. Title Page, Copyright Page, Dedication, etc.) Once you’ve approved the final design, we make your book available for sale worldwide with all of our Retail Partners, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Ingram, Baker & Taylor, and many more.
If you opted to have us design your cover or edit your manuscript, these services will also be completed during this step.
3. Get Paid - 100% Royalties!
Cash royalties are paid monthly via direct deposit, check, or PayPal. Your royalty rate will be 100% for all sales. You can view your sales online at any time. You can also have us print and ship as many or few books as you like anywhere in the world. No minimum quantity required.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does your Publishing and Distribution process take?
It can take 8-10 weeks to complete the design and layout of your interior file and upload it to the retail sites, though we are often able move more quickly than this. Your book will then become available for sale on most outlets within 3-8 business days.
Note: If you also have us design your cover or edit your manuscript, these services can add between 2-6 weeks to the process depending on the length of your manuscript.
How much do I earn per sale?
You will receive 100% of the proceeds your book earns from each of our paperback partners, less the printing cost for each book sold.

Will I be able to provide input on the design of my book?
Yes. Your Author Manager will ask if you if you have any design or layout preferences before we begin designing your book.
Will I be able to review my layout before it is made available for sale?
Yes. Once your design has been completed, we will send you a PDF proof of your book for review. You can also request a physical proof of your book before we make it available for sale. If there are any modifications you would like us to make, we will make them at this time.
Where will my book be listed for sale?
Your book will be listed for sale with all major online bookstores, including Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, BooksaMillion.com, BookDepository.com, and many more. We will also make it available to the two major brick-and-mortar bookstore and library wholesalers in the U.S., Ingram and Baker & Taylor. Click here for a complete list of our retail partners.
What are my paper stock options?
For black and white interiors, we offer 60# white (444 ppi) and 60# cream (412 ppi) options. Printing costs are the same for both.
For color interiors or black and white coloring books, we offer a thicker 70# white stock.
What are my cover stock options?
We offer 4-color printed covers with gloss or matte finishes for paperbacks and hardcover dust jackets. Our printing costs are the same for both finishes. Our paperback cover stock is 10 pt C1S.
We offer both case laminate and cloth hardback cover options. We include foil spine stamping on cloth-bound books at no additional cost.
How do I check my sales?
Sales reports are emailed at the end of every month detailing sales made in the prior calendar month.
How often do I get paid?
Royalties are paid via direct deposit once received from our retailer partners, or approximately 90 days following the end of the calendar month during which the sales were made.
Can I order books for myself or others?
Of course. You can have us print and ship books to any destination at any time. Click here to view our printing cost calculator and information about our shipping costs.
What types of files do you accept?
We accept Microsoft Word, PDF, Rich Text, Text file, HTML, InDesign, and Pages files. We may be able to accept other file forms as well, including printed texts and handwritten manuscripts. Please contact us with questions.

What types of genres do you accept?
We accept all genres from fiction to nonfiction, from academic to children’s books, and everything in between.
Do you accept manuscripts or completed books with photos, illustrations, charts, and other graphics?
Absolutely. There is no extra charge for including graphics, etc.

Can my book’s interior be in color?
We can design, print, and distribute both black and white and color books.
Can I make content changes to my book after submitting my manuscript?
You can have us make content changes to your book at any time by letting us know what you’d like changed. Our content change fees are as follows: 1-10 changes – $40 11-25 changes – $65, 26-50 changes – $90, 51+ changes – $125 per hour.
Can I make metadata changes (pricing, description, author bio, genre, keywords) after submitting my manuscript?
We allow one free batch of metadata changes, but all subsequent changes are $25 per batch due to the labor-intensive nature involved in updating this information with each retail outlet.
Who determines my list price and other metadata information (description, author bio, genre, keywords)?
You. Your Author Manager will ask for this and other information in your introductory email.
Will I still retain the rights to my manuscript and book?
Yes. You will retain all of the rights to your manuscript and book, including all digital and print rights.
Can I withdraw my book for sale once it has been listed with the retailers?
Yes. You have the right, at any time, to withdraw your book from sale free of charge.
Will Gatekeeper Press be listed as my publisher or can I list another publisher’s name with my book?
If you’ve signed up for our Imprint Setup service, you can list your book under your own publisher name. Otherwise, Gatekeeper Press will be listed as the publisher.
